This Privacy Policy explains how BJJ Map ("we", "us") handles information when you use the website at bjjmap.submissionchain.net (the "Service"). BJJ Map is an educational Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu knowledge graph and training tool operated by YRCiou as an individual. The Service is currently in beta and under active development.

In short

  • BJJ Map is a static website. There are no accounts, no sign-in, and no database.
  • We do not ask for your name, email address, or other contact details.
  • Your study progress is stored in your own browser's local storage and is not sent to us.
  • We use Google Analytics (loaded through Google Tag Manager) and Microsoft Clarity to understand how the site is used and to improve it. These services use cookies or similar technologies to collect usage data, as described below.

Who we are

The Service is operated by YRCiou, an individual, at the domain bjjmap.submissionchain.net. For any privacy question, open an issue at github.com/YRCiou/bjjmap/issues.

Data stored on your device

The Service stores data in your browser's local storage so the training and game features work. This includes your flashcard and spaced-repetition state, your settings, your daily progress and streak, your roll history, your saved lists, your challenge and badge progress, and which states you have explored. It is kept under the key bjj-neural-progress, among others.

This progress data is not sent to us or to the analytics services. Clearing your browser's storage deletes it permanently; it is not backed up anywhere, and it does not follow you to another browser or device.

Analytics and usage data

We use the following services to measure how the Service is used. The data they collect is generally pseudonymous — associated with a randomly generated identifier rather than with your name.

  • Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, collects usage data such as the pages you view, your device and browser type, your approximate region (derived from your IP address), time spent on the site, and interaction events. We use it to understand which parts of the site are used and to improve the content.
  • Microsoft Clarity records how you interact with pages — clicks, scrolling, and mouse movement — and uses this to produce session replays and heatmaps. We use it to find and fix problems in the interface. Clarity masks sensitive input fields.

This data is processed by Google and Microsoft under their own privacy policies: Google Privacy Policy and Microsoft Privacy Statement. We use the reports these services provide, and we do not sell this data.

The site is also registered with Google Search Console, which gives us aggregated reports about how the site appears in Google Search results.

Cookies

Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity use cookies or similar technologies to distinguish visits and sessions. Other third parties may set their own cookies when their content loads — see below.

How to opt out

  • Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to stop Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits.
  • Block or delete cookies, or block tracking scripts, in your browser's settings or with a content-blocking extension.

Third parties

The following providers deliver the site, the content embedded in it, or the analytics described above:

Some outbound links (for example to instructional courses) are affiliate links; clicking one takes you to a third-party site governed by its own privacy policy.

Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation applies, usage data is processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the Service, or on the basis of your consent where applicable law requires it. The hosting and content providers listed above process request metadata under their own legitimate interest in delivering and securing the content you requested.

Data retention

Analytics data is retained by Google and Microsoft for the periods set in those services and described in their policies. Data in your browser's local storage persists until you clear it.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and comparable laws you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, portability, restriction, and objection. We do not hold your name or contact details, and analytics data is associated with a random identifier rather than with you by name, so we may not be able to identify which data belongs to a particular visitor. You can object to analytics collection at any time with the opt-out options above, and you can erase everything the Service has stored in your browser by clearing its storage for this site. For data held by Google or Microsoft, you can also use the tools described in their privacy policies.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the last updated date at the top of this page.
